Iranian 'Butterfly' to fly to Greece

Iranian animated short 'Butterfly' has been set to be featured at the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People in Greece.

'Butterfly', directed by Maryam Khalilzadeh, will vie at the animated short film section of the 21st edition of the Greek festival.

The 13-minute flick's brief synopsis reads, 'Legend has it that if through enchanted music a man is able to transform thousand and one girls into butterflies; he himself will be able to fly. A man starts turning girls into butterflies. Then, at the one thousand and first, he falls in love with the very last case.'

In August, the film attended the 2018 edition of the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival in South Korea.

In addition to 'Butterfly', Iranian feature ‘The Skier’ will also go on screen at the Greek event.

Directed by Fereydoun Najafi, ‘The Skier’ is about a boy from Iran’s Kouhrang County who is going to take a little ibex to a tribal ritual in a snowy remote region in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province but he faces many problems on his way.

The movie documents vanishing tribal traditions and paints a portrait of the ethnic community of the Bakhtiari people of southwest Iran.

The 21st edition of the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People will be held in the capital Athens on December 1-8, 2018.
